HOW TO MAKE A STAND OUT LOGO?

Updated: Oct 25, 2020

Are you a business owner or a new that wants to start it up? One of the things you need to consider and setup is your logo. How can you say that your logo is attractive to many clients or consumers? and how it can be popular for many?

A good logo is distinctive, appropriate, practical, graphic, and simple in form, and it conveys the owner’s intended message. Logos are used to identify your own branding.

Here are the Five (5) Rules in Logo Creation:

A good logo should have the following:

  1. Simple

  2. Remarkable

  3. Timeless

  4. Universal

  5. Suitable

Simple

Keeping your logo simple makes it easy to recognize, identify, and distinguish for everyone. Good logos have a feature something unexpected or unique, without being "overdrawn."

Remarkable

An effective logo design should be remarkable, which is achieved by keeping it simple yet appropriate.

Mickey Mouse is undoubtedly everyone’s favorite mouse and the mascot of Disneyland. The round shapes signify Mickey Mouse as a good character, much like how Disneyland is the “happiest place on Earth”. The silhouette of Mickey Mouse is definitely one of the most iconic symbols.

Timeless

Your logo should be timeless. Will it last for many years? Will it still be effective after so many years?

The famous cola drink brand was first launched in 1898 and has since evolved through the ages from a decorative scripted font to the red, white, and blue globe that we see today. The scripted font has recently returned to the branding, but even without it, the drink is still widely recognizable.

Universal

It should be able to work across a variety of mediums and applications. The logo should be functional, designed in vector format (to ensure that it can be scaled to any size), and able to work both in horizontal and vertical formats.

Check your logo! Is it still effective if you printed in/on:

  • one color?

  • reverse color (ie. light logo on dark background)

  • the size of a postage stamp?

  • something as large as a billboard?

Suitable

The logo should be suitable for its intended purpose. For example, if you are designing a logo for a children’s toy store, it would be appropriate to use a childish font & color scheme.
